|Farzaneh Mahvash Mohammad, étudiante en codirection entre UQAM et McGill ( Pr Thomas Szkopek et Pr Mohamed Siaj) was named Étudiante-chercheure étoile March 2016 by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT).
Awarded publication is Space-Charge Limited Transport in Large-Area Monolayer Hexagonal Boron Nitride and has been publishedinto Nano Letters, vol. 15, 2015.
Hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is a material employed in nano electronic devices as a dielectric substrate. One of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is that charge carriers can be injected in monolayer hBN. The future development of hBN devices with a stable charge density compensated by impurity dopants or field effect will enable hBN to be applied to ultraviolet optoelectronic devices. This research could serve as a base for future studies concerning the integration of hBN in semiconductor heterostructures for the realization of high-efficiency deep ultraviolet optoelectronic devices. Fabrication of such devices will make a profound impact on the broad areas of society including household appliances and medical instruments.
