Angiopep-coated nanoparticles for the delivery of therapeutic drugs in the brain.
Thème : Biomatériaux | Domaines : Composés thérapeutiques, Nanoparticules dendritiques.

The blood brain barrier (BBB) is an important physiological obstacle to deliver drugs to the brain. Access to neuronal tissues is particularly important for brain cancer and degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson. Angiochem Inc., a Montréal(Qc)-based biopharmaceutical company involved in new drug development, has identified a peptide, called Angiopep, capable of transporting diverse molecules, including drugs that can cross the BBB. The present proposal is to evaluate the capabilities, safeties and efficiencies to conjugate Angiopep proprietary peptide to different families of novel nanoparticles. Three families of dendritic nanoparticles will be evaluated as carriers of Angiopep to evaluate their properties since they may appear as being more efficacious.
